Lawn Bowls

We at the Scarborough Bowling Club are very proud of our membership mix and with the younger members who are actively involved in our pennant teams and in the running of the bowls division.

Our club facilities include a high quality synthetic green for all year round bowling under lights and two excellent grass greens.

The club fields teams in weekend and midweek pennant competitions for both men and ladies, and a ladies Friday night pennant competition.

We offer organised social bowls during the off season on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

We welcome all new members regardless of experience.

Free coaching available – why not contact us and give it a go?

Membership is discounted for your first year.

HISTORY

The Scarborough Sports and Community Club was established in 1953. The management committee authorised the formation of the bowls sporting division and the first greens, “B” and “C”, were constructed. This was done in the main by the voluntary labour of the foundation members. B green on land owned by the club, C green on land leased from the Perth Roads Board (later to become the City of Stirling). “A” and “D” greens were established later. The men’s bowls division was admitted to the Royal West Australian Bowls Association in 1957. Arthur Povah was president of the SSC at that time. The bowls chairman was Arthur Purslowe.
